Moncler Publicist Boosts (and Returns) Dali Painting
Damn homie! We thought the cash flow was pretty proper at Moncler. Apparently not. According to The Daily Beast, Moncler’s head of international media relations was arrested as JFK for allegedly stealing a Dali painting.
See how he almost got away with it after the pause.
Phivos Lampros Istavrioglou is accused of snatching a $150,000 Salvador Dali painting off the wall of an Upper East Side gallery last year. Gallery video shows him taking the painting off the wall, placing it in a shopping bag, and casually walking out.
He flew home to Greece the next day with the painting.
All the police had was video, so he sort of got away with it. That is until his nerves got the best of him and he mailed it back from Greece. Police were able to get his prints off the painting and ran them through the NYPD database. Istavrioglou’s prints were in the system because he was caught stealing steak from an NYC WholeFoods last January.
Authorities lured him back to US by having undercovers pose as gallery representatives and offer him a consulting job with a hefty salary. When he hit the ground, they arrested his ass.
Since being arrested, Istavrioglou has been fired from Moncler.
