New York City is home to more than 8 million people. Most of these people brave the MTA on a daily, so why hasn’t anyone seized the marketing opportunity before now. No, we’re not talking about the ads on the trains. We’re talking about the front of MetroCards. Gap is the first company to utilize the front of the transportation passes as a mini billboard.
Details after the jump.
The MTA is leasing the front of 125,000 MetroCards to Gap. Instead of the usual yellow-orange and blue cards NYers have grown to know and love, the words “Be Bright NYC” will be seen at the turnstyle. While you’re out and about in the city, stop by the Gap flagship store on 34th & Broadway. That was Gap’s intention anyway. Plus, you get a 20% discount if you have the Gap MetroCard.
