DVF Gets Digital
We’ve seen pretty innovative (and weird) things on NYFW runways, but the latest Diane Von Fursetenberg show has the web buzzing. Normally we expect great shoes, bags and nails as fashion week accessories, but DVF teamed up with Google for something totally left field.
Find out after the pause.
No doubt, DVF’s designs are the ish. She’s credited with creating the wrap dress for pete’s sake! Seems like her Spring 2013 designs may have taken a backseat to her chosen accessory, Google Glasses. These high-tech things resemble the eyewear Geordi La Forge rocked on Star Trek. Eek!
Apparently the glasses have a built in camera, mic and screen so you can capture images, respond to emails, check your calendar and get turn by turn directions all by voice. Basically, they’re a wearable computer. All you messages, alerts, etc show up directly inside the lens of the glasses.
DVF models wore the glasses to get behind-the-scenes snapshots that were uploaded to the DVF Google+ page. The images will also be used to create a short film, “DVF through Glass,” that will premiere on Sept. 13.
