RIP Anna Piaggi
Anna Piaggi, celebrated Italian fashion journalist, editor and style icon passed away yesterday at the age of 81. The world heard news of its loss when close friend and designer Stefano Gabbanna tweeted, “RIP Anna Piaggi… : ((((( ciao grande Anna!!!”
More about the beloved Anna after the break.
Piaggi started her fashion journalism career in the ’60s as the editor of Ariadne (which was, according to La Repubblica, the first women’s magazine in Italy). She went on to contribute to Vogue Italia, and later Vanity in the ’80s. Close friends of Anne include designer Karl Lagerfeld (who often used her as his muse) and Manolo Blahnik (who designed most of her shoes).
Outside of her accomplishments in journalism, Anna will be remembered for eccentric personality, enormous clothing collection, punk inspired style and signature rosy cheeks.
The fashion world has lost a fashion icon and true individual. We’ll all miss you Anna!
