Sheer She Will
Last winter was abundant with snow and desolate with shoes, so I came walking up to 2012 looking to make up ground. Right now I am stomping around the world sexy as I want to be in the one-two punch of tough slutty sheer tights and tough lace up boots. Like you are all catching a glimpse of my thigh tattoos through my translucent tights and your eyes get down to my mid-calf region where you are reality-checked by my “boots are made for walking” and yet alluring attitude. Aren’t I giving you everything? These are my babies, some Boutique 9’s I got on major sale. They may not look like much at first glance. But trust me they’re business: supple leather in a hyper-modern blurred grey, slender neutral bottom, and part military/part Timberland inspired eyelets.
I blame the boss lady CLAW$$$ for my obsession with sheer dots. And as the couture shows showed, the sheer power keeps right on reigning. I peeped MAD panties through skirts! Mad of em. For those of us walking through the real world, I think tights/pantyhose are the most doable way to partake in the sheer trend. Here’s what I’m wearing: skirts/shorts over black patterned sheer tights with combat style boots. It’s a little nineties—a little Angela Chase even—but I’m not mad. It’s happening. It’s hot.
Here’s why: punk + pretty hasn’t stopped feeling or looking good. Flocked or net patterns on black tights brings texture to a look without formality (or too much money for that matter)—but let’s skip the traditional fishnets for now in favor of something more visually interesting. Also, its winter outside so you need to cover your legs at least a little bit while still wanting to step out a little scandalous. But not so scandalous your underwear is showing—at least not during the day time.
Here are some sheer black tights to suit your fancy (but not too fancy):
Black Armour Net Tights at Top Shop
Mismatch stripe tights (so creepy sexy)
Now get to steppin.
