What Goes Around Comes Around SS 2011
What Goes Around Comes Around is a dynamic balance of 1970s Parisian chic coupled with the American hippie movement of the decade. Creative Director Gerard Maione drew inspiration from the stories and images of Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld in the book The Beautiful Fall as well as his knowledge and affection for the hippie lifestyle in the cities of New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. WGACA conti nues to use its unique resources to produce original prints inspired by antique garments. This season those patterns come to life in the form of bohemian scarf prints, beautiful florals and indigo patchwork taken from a turn of the century quilt. The women’s collection strongly reflects the bohemian lifestyle with pieces ranging from silk peasant dresses and beaded chiffon shrugs to crochet vests and leather and suede vests. The color scheme includes soft blushes and floral accents with hints of green, blue and beige. Some of the collection’s key fabrics are soft silk, cotton voile, chiffon and suede as well as laser cut leather. Highlights of the collection include a stunning scarf cutaway detail on several tops and dresses, unique embroidery on peasant tops and combinations of voile and lace reflecting a Victorian moment.
