Thierry Mugler Quit Fashion Because…..
“The reason I quit fashion was that I had had enough of spending my time always being on my knees, making other people look amazing and fabulous. I used fashion to express myself as much as I could. But at some point, it was not enough.” says 61 year old Thierry Mugler – the man who invented the (super woman) power suit. But his piece de la resistance is the 1992 motorcycle bustier that Naomi Cambpell wore sashaying down the runway in George Michael’s iconic music video Too Funky, then later worn by Beyoncé’s alter ego Sasha Fierce. The New York times Reports : Mr. Mugler, a notoriously difficult designer and utterly bizarre character, has granted few interviews in the eight years since his futuristic-power-babe fashion label went under. During that time he has designed stage costumes for erotic circus performers, taken to calling himself Manfred and transformed his body with an extreme regimen of diet, exercise and what is apparently plastic surgery into the 240-pound spectacle of muscle and nipple and tattoo seen in the picture set before me, which had been mocked up like a magazine cover.
