Fashion Flashback : Rock Steady Crew
Last week we posted about Doze Green’s show at Jonathan LeVine – and it got us thinking about how important his impact on Hip Hop culture has been. Not only inventing the drawn and spray painted B-boy character (that is a graffiti staple) but also by actually being a ground breaking B-boyer. That’s right, he is a triple threat – not only as graff pioneer, a well accomplished fine painter but also as founding member of the legendary Rock Steady Crew (thus basing his b-boy caricature off fellow member Ken Swift). Their impact on dance and popular culture is undeniable – look at MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew and the influence breakdancing has had on modern dance in general, not to mention fashion. This movement has created the archetype of what Hip Hop has looked like for the last 30 plus years – just look at the kids today! Check out the pics after the jump and better practice your robot…..
