The Trends of The Decade 2000 – 2009
Y2K bitches! It is hard to believe that it was just 10 years ago. The first decade of the new millennium was quite action packed but the fashion trends were extremely retro. 80′s revival turns into 90′s revival – bringing back both old school hip hop and grunge. Here is a list, like em or hate em of the biggest trends from the last 10 years, starting above with (the now over) Streetwear overload. Also check our trend wrap up for 2009 – all the looks after the jump…..
Ray-bans are back and they look like like are not going away. First being popularized in 1980′s by Tom Cruise in Risky business, now seen on like, everyone.
Trucker hats – came in in the late 90′s and still have not left the heads of some.
American Apparel – they came and took the Gap’s spot and now every nerd is a hipster.
Uggs – duhh
Victoria Secret’s Pink ass-vertising
Pricey flip flops – from Tory Birch to Havaianas
Ballerina flats and metallic leather – 2 trends in one pic
Patent Leather came back hard
New Era Fitted hats
Expensive denim – 7 For All Mankind, JBrand, True Religion etc….
Fancy co-brands (LV x Murakami)
Leg warmers – still big in the hood
Streetwear as mentioned in the start of this post – RIP 2009
Sneaker culture and co-brands (this one is hawt fire! and the first for the females artist series with Nike, like ever!)
Especially Jordan re-issues
Fake designer bags – they were everywhere, especially on New Jersey housewives and their teenage daughters
Whats next for the 10′s? Can’t wait to find out!
