Fashion Flashback : Grace Jones
No one knows how to make a statement like Grace Jones, spawning many imitators, think Lady Gaga, Rihanna and even Karen O. At 29 she signed a deal with Island records where she released 3 albums in 3 years. She then changed musical direction, going more “new wave” and her fashion started to reflect that shift. Boldly androgynous with her faded “flat top” hairstyle and her garb festooned with hoods, masks, hats and sharp shoulders – heavily influencing the gay cross-dressing community along the way. She was the muse of both Andy Warhol and Keith Haring – and for good reason! More pics after the jump…..
