Weekend Recommendations : Siren Music Festival and the Whitney
The Village Voice’s Siren Music festival is this Saturday, July 18, 2009 from noon — 9pm. This free festival features performances throughout the day on two outdoor stages Coney Island, NYC. Built to Spill, The Raveonettes, Frightened Rabbit, Grand Duchy, Monotonix and tons of others will be playing. The Festival is followed by the Siren Afterparty at the Music Hall of Williamsburg which starts at 9. More bands and DJs will be performing including Francis and the Lights and the Acrylics. Also, Blogue thinks that if you are art nerd you should make it over to the Whitney when you get a chance. They are highlighting some great Conceptual work. There is a Dan Graham retrospective, they are showing Claes Oldenberg’s experimental films, as well as an installation on Photoconceptualism from the ’60s and ’70s.
