Sace – Dash Snow’s Alter Ego
When I first met Dash everyone called him Sace. It was ’99 and he was a hot little number, very chic in his tattered tees and had a Lionel of the Thundercats hairdo. We were neighbors and I would see him quite often at the deli on 6th street and Avenue B. He would come over and light up ciggies in my apartment, never ask as if it was ok to smoke them inside. I would yell at him about it and his smoking in general. Then I would roll up a joint and we would smoke that instead. In those days Sace was the king of downtown. Often criticized that he didn’t really stray far from this neighborhood when bombing. If you are gonna paint anywhere in the city, why not downtown? Afterall EVERYONE in NYC comes downtown, not everyone goes to the Bronx or even the UES, forget Bay Ridge or Corona. Besides he painted more downtown than some who are considered ALL CITY and he got up all over the world – some writers never even leave Brooklyn! After the jump, please find pics of the mark Dash blessed us with, done illegally on the streets for all the world to see and enjoy…… RIP Sace, Graffiti’s golden boy. Moments like this never last…. Gone but never forgotten.
RIP Sane, Semz, Dondi and IZ.
