Dash Snow’s Internet Retrospective
Tim Barber of Tiny Vices‘ blog put together a beautiful retrospective of Dash Snow’s photographs, neo-dadist collages and installations. When looking through this collection one can easily see a cohesive body of ideas and interest in certain types of imagery that come together to comment on culture. His work goes far beyond cataloging drug-addled party scenes, as his critics often accuse. Dash was an artist, and whether you like his work or not you should at least respect that he made art, which is half the battle. Of course, it was easier for him to live as an artist because of his heritage- but money does not provide the ability and desire. Over the past few days, Blogue has been saddened by the blog-heads so brashly commenting on Dash Snow’s overdose. Safely protected by the annomity of the internet, people feel comfortable going on tangents about drug addiction, judging his family history and saying he was not a creative mind. Everyone is open to their opinions, but a life has been cut short. He had a daughter, a girlfriend, family and many friends in New York and beyond. He will be truly missed. We will be putting together a Sace post for tomorrow. See more photos after the jump….
