The Show Must Go On!!
It is confirmed: Christian Lacroix will put on a Fall 2009 couture show! While the show will be small, consisting of just 20 outfits, Lacroix, despite the designer’s economic woes and his label being in the toilet has declared that he will give 200% to the runway presentation that which will take place on July 7th at Les Arts Decoratifs. More deets after the jump!!The catch? The show will have to be totally budg! The 20 models that will walk the runway for what is definitely the end of an era, (although we hope Lacroix will be able to make a comeback sometime!), will have to do so for free! The models will have to volunteer their time to bid farewell to the fashion house, and for what Lacroix has promised is not a funeral! The designer has stated that the show “can’t cost us a single euro”!
Not to mention that Lacroix has made it known that he will not use sickly skinny models!
“Very skinny women don’t look beautiful in clothes. What I cannot stomach, because it evokes the war to me, is when you can see a woman’s kneecap protruding in its entirety, skinny elbows, or a woman’s chest bones. I won’t tell you who they are because it would be hurtful, but there are certain models I cancelled jobs with because they were too thin. It’s a terribly sad cloning of young women today which actually means that there is no room for anything to stand out – except bones” says the designer.
We’ll drink to that!
