Fashion Flashback : Martin Lawrence
TV hit “Martin” in our humble opinion was one of the best sitcoms to come from the 90’s, even rivaling “Seinfeld”. And poking around on the interwebz we learned we are not alone, we found a bunch of fan sites including this french one. The appeal of Martin is his animated face, his characterizations/impersonations (such as Shanaynay, Rommy Rome, Mama Payne and the annoying Roscoe – among others) and his use of fashion as comedy separated him from the pack. The sense of family and friendship drew you in. Lawrence often crediting the Cosby Show as the inspiration for his endeavor. We took a look back at some of Martin’s best and worst looks (from the tube to his jump into film) that will have you screaming for Gina, after the jump!

The Martin Show is CLASSIC TV! Fashion was always on point– Jerome was rocking “the white shoes”, and you know Shenehneh always had on some amazing ensemble and hairdo worthy of the Golden Weave Award! Many of my ensembles these days are inspired by the show (And no, I ain’t kiddin!)… bring Martin back!
