Label to Watch: Heal
With a blend of high and low, french label Heal has taken various borrowed elements of other designers we love, and transformed them into a pleasantly avant-garde, yet still refined and solid collection of pieces.
It’s always refreshing to find designers that pay attention to structure and construction in their pieces. But when designers are able to do that, and still throw in elements of kitsch? Well, that would lead the discussion to Hervé and Alice of Heal. Reminiscent of another Hervé (Leger, that is) and Christopher Kane‘s spring 07 collection, expect plenty of form fitting bandage dresses. Yet, with details like lobsters, and impeccable silk jackets, there is a mixture of futuristic and fun that is lighthearted, yet high-end. But even with more casual items like t-shirts, the cheeky graphics make for good conversational pieces. As they so eloquently put it the line is a “contrast of the sophisticated and the casual, for the day and for the evening, still with the usual easiness required.” And frankly, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
