United Colors of Benetton has always advertised from the heart. They believe that good values add value to a company. But, duh! Prettty colors are important, too. We have always appreciated Benetton for embracing both those things.
Benneton’s first advertising campaign, “All colors around the world,” eventually developed into the company’s full name- The United Colors of Benneton. From there they created their first ground breaking campaign “United Colors,” focusing on different skin colors. Since then their beautiful photographic ads have focused on the themes from Gulf War, AIDS, natural disators to genocide, world hunger and supporting microcredit in Africa. They connected their socially conscience message to a bright line of clothing, available in multiple colors. From the get-go Benetton had a European feel and was the first cool brand available at the mall. Their branding was ahead of it’s time- they were even the first company to trademark their name.
