We met James F Goldstein at art basel last week and have been obsessed ever since – we dug up some info on this awesome character!

Also known as the XXIst century’s first dandy, James Goldstein has three passions in life, architecture, fashion and the NBA. He is an eccentric billionaire, and a passionate shopper. Goldstein travels the world during each countries fashion week and sits front row, before rushing backstage to congratulate the designer and of course, placing an order.

Goldstein refuses to disclose how he made his fortune, although it is speculated that he has made billions in real estate. When asked, he responds: “Let’s just say I had some investments that worked out pretty well.”

Once a student and disciple of Frank Lloyd Right, Goldstein’s passion for architecture is emulated in his famous house in the Hollywood Hills. Goldstein’s home is so exquisite it has been featured in many high fashion magazines, and has even been featured in movies such as Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. As an architecht and a fashion designer, James was very specific to each and every detail in his home. John Lautner designed the exquisite home until he passed away, leaving the job to Helene Arahuete. James and Helene worked together to design each part of the home just as Lautner dreamt of. Goldstein is still working on perfecting his already perfect home and is always making changes to the masterpiece.

Goldstein first became interested in the NBA just as a young boy. At the age of 15 he was hired to keep game statistics by the Milwaukee Hawks. He invests a large portion of his money into traveling to and from NBA games- he has said that he has no favorite teams, but he has season tickets to both the Clippers and Lakers and usuallly sits courside at the games that he attends. He usually spends over $150,000 a year on attending basketball games.
