The spring summer 2009 Balmain show received so much praise, which made it seem if the line would be a big seller.  But since the cheapest piece in the line costs $1,500, (for a t-shirt) many buyers are skipping out on purchasing the line. The $1500 t-shirt is cotton with some “artfully placed holes,” while a sparkly tee cost $3,000. The label’s evening dresses cost $12,000 to $22,000, and jackets cost $5,000. Whoa! In this economy people are looking to get the most for their money, and Balmain really isn’t taking this into consideration.
